Something we already knew: team powers, tournament situation, recent history of games.
Something technically complicated: squad conditions.
And something very common for all answers: weather!
Temperature, precipitations, wind, solar activity etc. - all this may quite affect the number of scored goals and increase or vice versa decrease difference between teams strength and form.
First results
So, we decided to check the hypotheses and integrated our backend algorithms with provider of massive yet accurate weather data: https://www.visualcrossing.com/
The very first results look quite promising: this data, even in its simple form, is able to improve efficiency of our models by some important percentages of profit.
Starting today, these new models are applied in our predictions and bets.
And there is a space for further, deeper work with the data.
